Cameron Higgins threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns to lead Weber State to a 47-14 win over Cal Poly on Saturday. His most-entertaining touchdown pass came in the fourth quarter as he fumbled the ball while scrambling, picked it up and hit Tim Toone for 44 yards. It was Toone's third touchdown catch of the day.

In the minds of Weber State's players and coaches, there's still a chance for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs. Whether that's true or not, the Wildcats will play as if their postseason lives depend on it when they face Cal Poly today at Stewart Stadium in a non-conference matchup. "We got one more game to make a statement," said receiver Tim Toone.  

A HEDGES Avenue mansion has reportedly sold for more than $13 million, signalling a turnaround in values on 'millionaires row'. The house, owned by Jillian Mathieson, wife of hotel magnate Bruce, is understood to have sold in the past few weeks. The sale sets a new benchmark for the Mermaid Beach beachfront strip after homes of a similar size were sold for as little as $5 million earlier in the year.  

The Nov. 30 trial for murder suspect Tony Smith has been postponed until January. Judge Stephen Kouri had denied a motion on Nov. 6 to postpone the trial date for Smith, 40, of Sparland. After a 50-minute conference in the judge's chambers with all attorneys involved in the case, Smith's public defender Pat Murphy once again asked for a continuance, saying he had received additional relevant discovery materials on Nov. 17 and 18.

Second place in Nike Tournament of Champions. Undefeated against teams from Illinois, defeated Whitney Young 53-29 for the Class 4A state title. Morgan Tuck named Ms. Illinois Basketball, Ariel Massengale in the top 10 for votes.  

This season it will be hard to find a team that doesn't have the Bolingbrook girls basketball squad circled on its schedule as the biggest game of the season. Besides winning the Class 4A state title, the Raiders took second place in the Nike Tournament of Champions, finished fifth in the USA Today national rankings and the last time they lost to a team from Illinois was March 1, 2008, against Whitney Young. So how can the Raiders top what they have done last season?

The defending state champion Bolingbrook Raiders are poised and appear ready to repeat as the Class 4A champions. With their showdown with Marian Catholic approaching, Bolingbrook Sun reporter Jason Ivanitz sat down with Raiders girls basketball coach Tony Smith to talk about the challenges of the upcoming season. Ivanitz: Do you guys still think about or even mention last year's state title?  

The Bolingbrook girls basketball state title defense begins Friday. However, whether or not its opponent will offer the challenge as advertised before the season starts will remain to be seen. In Marian Catholic's (0-1) season opener, it was upset by host Lincoln-Way East 48-41.
